The plot wasn't very engaging and the whole thing was very predictible. However, I enjoyed watching it just to see some interesting ideas, like the fact that it's a new era and that somehow something in the environment killed his immortality. Or the bonus scene at the end that suggests that John may be believed to be a psychopath, running from town to town every 10 years. Bottom line, it was interesting ideas, but it left me with a « Too bad, didn't leave me to wonder like the original movie ». The story contains some compelling premises not anticipated when the film originally came out. How would our protagonist continue his lifestyle in an era of ubiquitous information access and cameras? As identity verification has become normalized for even the most routine activities, how can someone who depends on switching identities, with no institutional support like an intelligence agent might have, continue their way of life? Instead of addressing these compelling questions, the story takes a more conventional film approach and loses Richard Schenkman's ability to create a compelling and engaging film centered on a conversation in one setting. The film features terrible development of newly introduced characters and an ending that gives the impression the filmmakers ran out of money and decided to abruptly call it done. Having seen this once, I feel no desire to watch it again. This movie is a horror Sci -Fi fantacy with some of the themes from the original particularly the fact that John Oldmen(Young) is 14,000 years old and claims to be Jesus. I wish this movie would have been its own original with different characters instead of using John Oldmen from the original movie. A slight letdown from the original but I enjoyed it overall.
